How to Strike a Yoga Pose
With so many different poses within the eight different styles of yoga. Each yoga pose acts as a stone in the path and Hatha is the most well known for its primary use of yoga poses. Along with breathing and meditating exercises, meditation is still the untimate goal.
Yoga is not a form of exercise, but rather an added bonus to their existing exercises. The purpose of each pose is not to flex or grow your muscles. It is to stretch your body and release your min.
It is important that you warm-up before you begin any physical activities. Unlike the stretching that is involved with activities like jogging or most sports, your main focus for your yoga warm-up would be the neck and shoulders.
Whenever you are taking a class, your instructor will have planned out a sequence of yoga poses for you to master. If you are starting your from home, you can create your own unique sequence. There are some basic beginning asanas that are used in most classes.
One of the easy and relaxing position is the Corpse Pose (Savasana). It can be done in between other yoga poses and also during the final relaxation period. You will also find the Easy Pose (Sukhasana) a great pose for meditation. Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar) is a great stretching posture that can make you feel tall. As for the Headstand (Sirshasana) and the Shoulder Stand (sarvangasana), the limber individuals love it. Not forgetting the Plough Pose (Halasana) which requires some flexibility to perform.
Remember, relaxation is very important in order to succeed in yoga. You think it is easy? If you have not tried yoga before, you have not yet experienced the power of your inner mind and relaxation. Getting all tense up during the execution of a yoga pose, you could end up hurting yourself. The Corpse Pose is excellent for bringing yourself into a place of calm.
There are also special breathing techniques to practice. Moves can be so simple such as flexing your foot. Be sure to take slow, deep breaths and go at your own pace. Yoga is something that tailors itself to each individual. It is not as easy as you think it is!
